The frontlines of modern missions lie in the marketplace. From the industries we work to the places we live—these are all areas where God has called us. Let’s live on mission together.

Many well-intentioned Christians desire to love their neighbor. Some wait 3 years to do it; others wait 30 years. The purpose of this ministry is to encourage individuals to take clear steps towards furthering God’s kingdom. Making a difference in another person’s life is not always complicated, but rather a choice. If God has saved us and has opened our eyes with His Word, why should this not produce a joy in us so great that we share it with another, no matter the cost?
Through this ministry, we’ve begun to help many Christians break down the step-by-step process of engaging the marketplace. What does it look like for a portfolio manager to reach out in the finance district? What does a software engineer do when his project manger is a problem at work? We help teach, incubate, and experiment with each individual to see what works and what doesn’t. Living on mission is a personal, humble expression of our joy in God. What does loving our neighbors and coworkers look like?
What we’ve accomplished:
1.
Industry Outreach
We have established 2 Bible study outreaches in the heart of Irvine’s financial district. Every session is a Bible study on the characteristics of God, man, and application to daily life. The focus of each week is form and mentor each member so that they can apply the Gospel effectively to their respective vocation.
2.
Second-Degree Dinners
In one of the community groups at Trinity, we’ve established a new way of organically reaching the city through Second-Degree Dinners. These dinners center around 6 individuals who do not know each other. There are 2 hosts, and each host would invite one person whom they know the other co-host doesn’t know. Each host would then tell the person they invited to invite one person they know that the two hosts doesn’t know, so that we end up with 6 people. Through these dinners, we help break the ice with questions of life and work in hopes that we can witness and embody the Gospel down the line.
3.
Distance Coaching
We’ve started to coach and pray with a few key leaders in the Bay Area. For 6 months, we experimented with one-on-one virtual meetings with one of these individuals, learned their needs, and worked towards sharpening their skills for marketplace engagement. In addition, we have started hosting monthly prayer meetings for young professionals who are asking the question, How can I integrate my faith and work? This is crucial because we have found that many churches are not necessarily providing this sort of training for their members. In the meantime, we hope to supplement so that these leaders can start their own systems of support for their local congregations in the future.
