David Ta
FOUNDER
Hi, I’m David! I’m a native of California, a graduate of UCSD, and currently working on my MS at Reformed Theological Seminary. During my time in industry, I’ve worked as a technology consultant and an entrepreneur. Yet nothing gets me more energized than developing relationships and building community. Here at Missionary-ish we believe that in order to transform and renew a community, you and I must invest in one relationship at a time with gospel intentionality. It's the news of Jesus, his life and death and resurrection, that holds the ingredients for real life change.

I'm Reagan Ta, and I hail from Oklahoma City, OK. I've been married to David since August 2018, which was a convenient pairing because it only required me to chop off the last four letters of my maiden name (Taylor). David and I met on a dating website just for missionaries (yep, that actually exists) during my first year as a missionary in Thailand, where I served for three years on a church planting team. David served as a missionary in Thailand as well, and we hope to return to the overseas mission field one of these days, Lord willing! Before Thailand, I volunteered as a camp counselor at Echo Ranch Bible Camp in Auke Bay, AK for two summers, and I went on The World Race. My interests are basically the same as any other millennial you'll meet: drinking fresh-roasted coffee, long conversations from the heart with good friends, trying any reasonably-priced restaurant with a 4+ star Yelp rating, and checking my phone every five seconds. Right now, David and I are living in Orange County, CA, where we are working to build more missional communities at our church Trinity Presbyterian Church of OC and beyond.

My passion is to help people see Jesus is intimately involved in our lives and he cares about every little detail. His love is so overwhelming that He is with us at our jobs, at birthday parties, when we’re in pain, when we’re alone and crying, when we’re sinning, when we’re traveling- I think you get the point. God is working in us and through us every minute!
I love people, I love being productive and I love work! At the same time, I constantly have to ask God to search my heart so I do not idolize those things. I see every part of my life as my ministry and mission field. I believe work and serving God cannot be separated. Whether I’m at my corporate job, working on my consulting gig, creating floral arrangements for a wedding, preparing a meal for friends or babysitting my niece- this is work. I see all these opportunities as a platform for me to deepen my relationships with people to help them see Jesus and also for me to experience God. Knowing the gospel is the greatest gift I can ever receive in this lifetime, and it is what motivates me to get up every morning to live life to its fullest.
